What is Brow Lamination?

Brow Lamination is a two-step perming treatment that makes brows look fuller, fluffier, and easier to manage daily. It's basically a perm for your eyebrows, with the added benefit of being able to reshape them and fix any asymmetry.

You may be thinking: that sounds great! But what are the lamination steps? And how do they work?

Step-By-Step

  • STEP 1: The first step is a hair-softening solution often containing chemicals like thioglycolic acid or cysteine, which break down the hair's natural structure. This process softens the hair, making it more flexible and easier to shape as desired.

  • STEP 2: A neutralizing solution is applied to set the brow hairs into their new desired shape.

Finally, nourishing serums or conditioners are applied to promote hair health and add shine to the brows. This helps to minimize any potential damage caused by the chemical process.

Ta-daa! Your brows are laminated! But what now? How do you care for them post-lamination?

Aftercare

  • Do not get the brow hair wet for at least 24 hours after lamination.

  • Avoid excessive exercise as sweating creates moisture which can affect the lifting process in the first 24 hours.

  • Avoid direct heat treatments such as hair drying, workouts, steam rooms and saunas.

  • After 24 hours, wet the brows, brush into place and allow to set.

  • Apply serum to the brow hairs before bed (nightly) to provide nourishment to the hair.

NOTE: if you received a tint with your lamination, wait a few days after receiving your service to begin applying oil to avoid the tint prematurely fading.

Lamination is a two-step perming solution to help the brows hairs be more manageable and manipulate them easier. As time passes, you will need to brush them daily to their desired shape. Avoid scrubbing at brows or sleeping on them to make sure the hairs do not get bent and/or damaged.

Awesome! Now you know the aftercare, but how long does brow lamination last? What should be expected after receiving this treatment?

What To Expect After

  • IMMEDIATELY AFTER: Brows will be flat to the skin and appear darker due to nourishing oil and/or dye and will overall have a sleeker look.

  • 24 HRS AFTER: You can now wet your brows. brows will fluff up a little from the skin. Brows should be styled (brushed) and nourished with oil nightly.

  • 4 WEEKS AFTER: You can book a maintenance appointment to refresh with a deep conditioning brow treatment. A wax and/or dye can be added on to this appointment.

  • 8-10 WEEKS AFTER: You will be due for your next full lamination. If you haven’t taken care of your brows, they may not be suitable for lamination again.

While brow lamination does break down the bonds in the hair to reshape them, it actually makes them easier to style rather than permanently freezing them into place.
